孙浩良1951年出生于无锡，曾就读于复旦大学哲学系，中国社会科学院第一届硕士研究生，曾任中央美术学院副教授。1991年，在他40岁移民澳大利亚时，也有过最初的迷茫，后来因为学业和职业的背景，让他很快谋到了一份在蒙纳士大学做中文教师的工作，而之后，是他看到了许多移民家庭中孩子的问题。

“我自己的孩子是十岁跟我来的。他十岁在中国是读小学四年纪了。他当时在国内应该是说中文已经学的不错了，其实写作文写个日记都会了。来了不到八年，我发现这下子中文已经，他写个字缺胳臂少腿，而且他学的都是那种澳洲，因为他男孩儿吗，喜欢玩。他一来到就跟澳洲孩子打成一片。妈妈回到家里，半年以后回到家里跟他说中文，他来英文来回答你。最直接的出发因素，我捡了一个澳洲孩子，丢了一个中国孩子。”

就这样，孙浩良牵头与几位家长一起，利用周末时间把孩子们召集起来自己教中文。

澳洲的华文教育始于1910年前后，百年间随着移民政策的变化、起起落落。自20世纪70年代、中澳建交后、才开始如雨后春笋。即使到了90年代，在孙浩良办学时，依旧缺少生源，教室、师资等条件都非常有限。大家听说大陆来的学者办中文教育，生源逐渐多了起来，从最初的6个学生到后来每年增加100多个，这让孙浩良看到了这个事业的前景，于是辞职，决心要把中文教育办下去，并摸索出自己的办学特点。

经过20多年的努力，新金山教育集团目前有9个校区，300多名师资，培养过数以千计的学生。他们也在总结前人的基础上，不断创新教学模式，把剪纸、京剧、魔术等各种传统文化带进课堂，还组织孩子们进行祖国寻根之旅，亲身体会“根”的含义。同时，新金山还创办了图书馆、交响乐团、新金山之家等各种小型组织，用丰富多彩的活动传递中华文化。

目前新金山已经发展成为针对少儿、成人，融合多种教学模式于一体的全澳大利亚最大的中文教育机构，孙浩良也被称为澳大利亚的“俞敏洪”。

孙浩良在谈到弘扬中华文化的责任时几度哽咽，他认为海外的华人应该有种使命感，让更多的人更好地了解中国：

“我们海外的华人，到海外以后，我觉得，应该把我们这个民族的优秀的东西拿出来，让大家来分享，让世界上更多的人了解我们中国，了解我们这个民族。这是非常有意义的，而且是一件非常重要的事情。”

汉语如今已是澳洲第二大语音，越来越多学校开设中文课程，仅在墨尔本就有超过300所中小学校设有中文课。

新金山曾经是澳洲历史上掘金时代的标签，斗转星移，1992之后的20多年间，孙浩良带着一大批中国知识分子在澳洲挖掘和传承中华文化的宝藏，把新金山营造成了一方华人的精神家园。

Born in 1951 in Wuxi, Haoliang Sun studied in Fudan University majoring in philosophy. He is one of the first group that gained Master’s degree in Chinese social science. In 1991, when he immigrated to Australia in his 40s, he was in lost. Later, thanks to his professional experience, he found a new job soon as a Chinese teacher. Then, he found a lot of problems about children whose family has immigrated.

In this way, together with several parents, he taught children Chinese making use of weekend.

The education about Chinese culture in Australia started in around 1910, it varied with the change of the immigrating policy. From 1970s, it made great progress after Australia and China established diplomatic relations. Even if in 90s, there is still in lack of students, classrooms and teachers. Later, people heard that there come a scholar declaring Chinese education, the number of students boomed from 6 to 100 per year. Sun found the potential of the industry, so he made his mind to take it over and defined his own way of teaching.

With 20 years' efforts, New Jinshan Education Group is now developed as a mature school with 9 campus, over 300 teachers and thousands of students. Based on the former experience, they have innovated greatly in their teaching model. Now the education covers some traditional Chinese culture such as paper-cut art, Peking opera and Chinese magic. They also organize some "root-tracing" tours to help the students to know in person what "root" really means for Chinese people. Meanwhile, New Jinshan Education Group set up many small groups like libraries, symphony orchestras, New Jinshan families etc.. It is all these colorful activities that help transmit Chinese culture.

Chinese has become the second language in Australia. More and more Chinese courses are set in schools. There are more than 300 primary schools in Melbourne that contains Chinese lessons.New Jinshan was once the sign in Australian history. 20 years after 1991, Sun inherited the treasure of Chinese culture along with a group of Chinese scholars in Australia. He has made New Jinshan the spiritual home of Chinese.
